A TTC strike has been confirmed. Exam schedules remain in effect, and you are responsible for making sure that you get there. You may find ride-share and other transportation info on York's main site at http://www.csbo.yorku.ca/Transportation/. Give yourself extra time. And good luck getting there!

The exam will be held as scheduled even if there is a TTC strike. Stay tuned to the news (we should know by mid-day today). Please be sure to make alternative transportation arrangements in the event of a strike.

EXAM DATE/TIME AND LOCATION:
Mon, 11 Apr 2005 - 9:00 AM - 180 MINS - Tait McKenzie MNGYM

Here's a very useful tip to keep in mind as you study for the final exam, courtesy of Christine Shaw:
"[T]he short answer questions are not pithy little point form responses. We are looking for a performance of knowledge and ability to draw connections to the larger systems at play this term. This is something I have been stressing in my tutorial: concepts (such as democarcy, power, criminalization, embodiment, participation/relation) have been threaded throughout the semester. Therefore, we are looking for the ability to make links in the short answer questions, hence the weight of the mark [10 points per]."

Follow up to "observe, record, reflect" work we gave you last Friday, if you didn't get the info in Vari Hall from the organizers, you can find footage of the events at: http://auto_sol.tao.ca/. York Administration has a couple of announcements on the matter which are linked to the main page of the internal site at http://www.yorku.ca/yorkweb/. The external site, http://www.yorku.ca doesn't seem to have anything regarding the events. Hmmm, I wonder why. Feel free to send me any additional info you have and want to share with others in the class.

The articles below are posted as follow up to the discussions during the lecture last week. Feel free to send me other articles you think relevant.

The Burden Falls On The Poorest Societies, an interview with Mike Davis published in Znet.Org, gives a broader context for the disaster and its aftermaths already in the shaping and points to some key issues that the mainstream media have left out of their coverage.

Foreknowledge of A Natural Disaster: Washington was aware that a deadly Tidal Wave was building up in the Indian Ocean published in GlobalResearch.Ca by Michel Chossudovsky, a Canadian academic at Carlton U (I beleive), provides a detailed chronology of the recording and distributing of the information about the earthquake and the tsunami that followed. This chronology raises important questions to think about.
